Chattanooga, Tn. – June 3, 2022Grain Craft recently completed an extensive grain elevator addition at the Blackfoot, Idaho flour mill and the company announced today they are now accepting direct wheat harvest shipments. The elevator will be fully operational at the first of July and consists of thirteen grain bins and two fully automated truck receiving pits.

“The Blackfoot mill is a significant provider of both bulk and branded bagged flours throughout the United States, and this new elevator allow us to further our commitment of supporting our local growers and enhances our capacity to work with our grain partners,” said Alan Koenig, Chief Supply Chain Officer.  “Blackfoot is also a high performing hub of wheat origination for our other flour mills, and we are now able to be even more hands on through our supply chain to ensure delivery of quality wheat.”

Grain Craft has put a focus on quality wheat for many years.   The company releases an annual preferred variety list which includes varieties that have been thoroughly tested and selected based on key milling and baking characteristics.  In addition, the company collaborates with and funds breeding and varietal work with wheat breeding programs and universities that support strengthening the longevity of quality wheat and soil health improvement.

“We began working with growers in the Pacific Northwest more than 20 years ago to help identify and educate on planting varieties that meet both wheat quality and yield factors,” said Reuben McLean, Grain Craft Sr. Director of Quality and Regulatory.  “This new elevator investment at our Blackfoot mill will open up more opportunities to work together with local growers and learn from each other to continue to produce high quality flours with excellent baking characteristics for our customers.”
